About the roleA business critical position with a renowned FMCG organisation currently exists in order to fill a key role in their finance team. Taking a hands-on approach, this Senior Financial Accountant position will help assist in the management and communication of the companies’ financial & corporate accounting activities on a national scale and own aspects of their lease accounting process.The responsibilities
Reporting into the Financial Controller, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to);
  • Own the lease accounting process for the business, following AASB16 standards.
  • Responsible for monthly, quarterly and year-end tasks, pre and post to the preparation of month end management reporting and analysis.
  • Oversee tax compliance including, income tax returns, fbt, gst and bas in consultation with external advisors.
  • Contribute to the preparation of financial statements
  • Assist BU leaders with strategies to follow up outstanding debtors
  • Provide guidance on financial processes, procedures and maintain internal controls; focus on supporting operations functions including warehouses, logistic and inventory management activities
  • Provide analysis, insights and recommendations to CFO and Financial Controller on actual operating performance including variances, overheads spend to budget / variance
  • Drives continuous process improvement initiatives to ensure compliance and robust internal control
  • Lead ad-hoc projects as directed by the CFO and Financial Controller
The successful applicant will haveIdeally, you will be a CA or CPA qualified accounting professional and will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills as your ability to interact and engage cross-functionally within the business will be crucial to your success. Additionally, you will have a strong attention to detail, proven lease accounting (AASB16/IFRS16) experience & knowledge, and have worked in a large-scale, dynamic FMCG / Retail organisation previously. Prior training in a Big 4 chartered environment is advantageous.Additional benefits
