Full-time | Hybrid work availableHudson is proud to be partnering with a well-regarded national peak body to recruit a Policy Analyst for a key contract role focused on influencing and shaping progressive policy at a national level. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful reform in the health and social services space, while working closely with a passionate, expert team dedicated to improving outcomes for communities across Australia.
As Policy Analyst, you will support the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic policy initiatives aimed at improving the lives of people impacted by complex health and social issues. Working closely with the Lead Policy Analyst and broader policy team, you will engage with senior stakeholders, synthesise complex information and prepare documents that support advocacy, program development and reform efforts.Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert, evidence-based advice and strategic insights to support national policy objectives.
- Prepare high-quality policy submissions, discussion papers, briefs and correspondence.
- Monitor, contribute to and help evaluate policy initiatives and projects.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders including government departments, advocacy organisations and service providers.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to align policy development with community needs and lived experience.
- Participate in governance and quality assurance activities to ensure transparency and compliance.
- Represent the organisation in forums, committees and working groups.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in public policy, public health, social sciences or a related field.
- Significant experience in government, community or research settings—ideally with exposure to the health or social services sectors.
- Strong policy development and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and translate complex issues into clear, actionable advice.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking, and an understanding of how to navigate government processes and policy reform pathways.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence in liaising with senior stakeholders including government representatives, researchers and community leaders.
- Experience working in small teams or independent roles, with a flexible and proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Experience working with or within the health system (Commonwealth or state/territory level).
- Understanding of federal policy processes, including budget submissions and national strategies.
