The Early Learning Programs and Youth Division is focused on making high quality, affordable and accessible early childhood education and care available to Australian children and families.The Community Child Care Fund Restricted Expansion (CCCFR-E) program aims to increase participation rates of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children in ECEC settings. CCCFR-E grants fund mostly new First Nations-led ECEC services mainly in remote and very remote areas with low or no supply of Child Care Subsidy (CCS) approved care. These services prioritise Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children, and reflect children's individual learning and development, culture, abilities and interests.About the RoleReporting to the Assistant Director, Community Child Care Fund (CCCF) Restricted Expansion, this role would be responsible for administrative support to the program management of the grant opportunity and support to contracted services in remote areas.The successful applicant will support the implementation and operational management of the CCCFR-E program, with this work linked to the delivery of early childhood services in locations supporting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. The successful applicant will work closely with service teams who are predominately First Nations staff and/or organisations within rural, remote and very remote locations across Australia.The position is required to liaise with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and service providers. They will have developed program management skills, sound communication and engagement skills, with the ability to work in a flexible, collaborative and supportive environment.Key Duties
Support staff within the team to manage grant agreements
Ongoing program management including review of reporting and deliverables (finance and other), undertaking grant application processing and assessment and managing grant agreements.
Engagement with grant recipients to assist them to comply with their grant agreement obligations
Assisting grant recipients to improve access and inclusion for vulnerable or disadvantaged children and families.
Communicating and engaging with a range of stakeholders, including community and leadership groups, service providers, and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCOs) Government agencies and with First Nations Peak Bodies to effectively deliver the program
Essential Attributes / Skills / Experience
Experience in program management activities including exercising the judgement and decision making associated with providing advice to grantees and program stakeholders
Ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders, including aboriginal and/or torres strait islander peoples.
Strong written and communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively, culturally sensitively and positively with internal and external stakeholders
The ability to exercise judgment ability to work independently, and collaboratively as part of a team and understand the impact of the wider environment on own work and team objectives
Experience with or the willingness and ability to gain knowledge and experience of the strengths of, and challenges that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, including children and families face.
