Alkimos College is seeking to appoint a hardworking and motivated Student Support Officer to join our Learning Support Team and our Specialised Autism Learning Program (SALP) team. You would join a community of motivated educators, committed to ensuring the wellbeing of every student at our college.Located in the northern suburb of Alkimos with sweeping ocean views, Alkimos College opened in 2020 with our foundation Year 7 cohort, providing local intake area students with access to an exceptional secondary education in world-class learning facilities. Each year, we have added an additional cohort and have now reached our full complement of Years 7-12.Stage 1 buildings include administration, lower school student services, library, gymnasium, fitness centre, food studios, cafeteria, IT labs, technology workshops, general classrooms, science laboratories, and nature play area. Shared oval and community facilities with the City of Wanneroo are available via the adjacent Halesworth Park precinct. Stage 2 includes a performing arts centre, lecture theatre, senior school student services centre, new SALP centre and general classrooms.Find out more about our school by visiting orThe RoleThis is a newly created role and presents a fantastic opportunity to assist the Program Coordinators of Learning Support and SALP in providing information and guidance to students, staff and parents.The successful applicant would form an integral part of the Learning Support and SALP teams, assisting in the day-to-day running of these programs, ensuring an effective and responsive service for students. This includes supporting individuals and groups of students with behavioural, social and emotional needs as required.Some of your key responsibilities may include assisting:
  • Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) and Individual Disability Allocation (IDA) funding processes
  • Following up on diagnosis paperwork requests from parents, following up on absences for Learning Support and SALP students
  • Student access to equitable adjustments for assessments such as OLNA and NAPLAN
  • Education Assistant timetabling and relief allocation
  • Timetabling and coordinating the Learning Support transition
  • SALP cover, assisting with physical resources and equipment, and
  • Coordination of events such as Autism Awareness Week.
The successful applicant will ideally have a friendly, positive, and caring attitude that strives to promote excellence within our college. Applicants with excellent attention to detail and strong organisation skills to meet deadlines and work in fast fast-paced environment will be viewed favourably.Previous experience working in a SALP or Learning Support context is highly desirable but not essential.
