This role provides technical support to enable the protection and recovery of Queensland’s terrestrial threatened species.In this Technical Officer role within Threatened Species Operations, you will provide technical support to scientists delivering research and monitoring projects that contribute to the protection and recovery of Queensland’s terrestrial threatened species. The team is responsible for providing scientific advice for threatened species planning and management, monitoring programs for priority threatened species, undertaking research to inform species and threat management, identifying research gaps, fostering and growing partnerships with research institutions, sharing knowledge (via publications, reports, media, conferences), delivering training and managing data.This position requires skills in wildlife identification and the collection, analysis, input and maintenance of data relating to Queensland’s threatened species. Activities undertaken in the role can be physically demanding, including extended field trips to survey and monitor wildlife. Office work is also required to document fieldwork results, compile reports and prepare for future trips. You will need to communicate and liaise with multiple stakeholders including partner organisations, volunteers and the community to provide effective conservation, research and monitoring of threatened wildlife. The role also involves developing and delivering training to staff and volunteers, maintaining vehicles and field equipment, ensuring compliance with Agency safety systems, policies and procedures, and contributing to the development of improved processes and procedures. Proven experience working collaboratively in a small team and proficiency in Excel and ArcGIS will be highly regarded.
