An exciting opportunity exists for a Fire Management Officer in the Park Operations and Community Partnerships Branch. The Fire Management Officer undertakes a range of fire and land management activities in the region that contribute to mitigating the impacts of bushfires on life, property and the environment while promoting improved ecological and biodiversity outcomes on parks and reserves. Contract up to 25 August 2027.Essential Qualifications:
A degree in Natural Science, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Management or similar is essential.Special Conditions:Will be required to participate in fire management or associated duties, including prescribed burning and emergency operations.A current class 'C' driver's licence and willingness and ability to safely operate a 4wd is essential.Must be physically fit and will be required to undertake a medical and fitness assessment to a minimum standard for a Fire Fighting Role Classification as per the DEW Fire Policy and Procedures.Will be required to undertake intrastate. interstate and remote area travel, including travel in light aircraft, which may require the incumbent to be away from home for extended periods.Will be required to work outside of the normal hours of work including weekends, public holidays, out of hours meetings and days of significant fire danger.Will be required to participate on a roster system for duties associated with emergency response including on call and standby arrangements.Wearing a company uniform during working hours and/or when representing the department is mandatory.Will be required to wear appropriate PPE in accordance with Departmental policy.Prior to being employed, the successful applicant will be required to obtain a National Police Check.You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or provide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allows you to work in Australia without restrictions.Remuneration:
