- Interpreting architectural, structural, and fabrication drawings
- Preparing detailed cost estimates for materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractors
- Performing quantity take-offs and creating material lists for steel fabrication
- Reviewing tender documents and preparing timely, competitive bids
- Liaising with clients, engineers, and internal teams to clarify scope and pricing
- Attending pre- and post-tender meetings as required
- Assisting in value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives
- Tracking tenders, quotes, and client communications
- Supporting the implementation and use of CRM/job tracking software
- 3-5+ years of proven experience in structural steel estimating
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and shop drawings
- Solid knowledge of steel fabrication processes and Australian building standards
- Experience in both commercial and residential steel projects
- Proficiency in estimating tools (e.g. Buildsoft, Bluebeam, Excel)
- Excellent attention to detail, communication, and time management skills
- A trade background or relevant tertiary qualifications (preferred)
