About the roleSouth West Healthcare (SWH) is seeking applications from suitably skilled and experienced Registered Nurses for the position of Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) in our Critical Care Unit.The NUM will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of human, physical, and financial resources within the unit. This role provides clinical leadership and operational oversight, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care. The successful candidate will lead the team in a consultative and collaborative manner, supporting staff and promoting positive health outcomes for patients and their families.Position overview
  • Employment Type: Full-time (80 hours per fortnight) with a monthly ADO, On-going position
  • Location: Warrnambool Campus
  • Classification: Nurse Unit Manager
  • Salary Range: $131,554.80 - $136,344.00 pro rata, plus superannuation
What you bring
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Minimum of three years' experience as a NUM or ANUM in a Critical Care or High Dependency Unit.
  • Advanced clinical assessment skills and experience in evidence-based care for critically ill patients.
  • Proven ability to work independently, with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Understanding of service and workforce planning aligned to current and future health service needs.
  • Experience in human resource management, including recruitment, performance management, and staff development.
  • Strong leadership and relationship-building skills, including negotiation, delegation, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Familiarity with organisational structures, policies, and clinical systems that support safe, high-quality care.
  • Demonstrated financial management and resource allocation skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations related to Nursing and Midwifery practice.
  • Skills in conflict resolution, team building, and change management.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Critical Care Nursing (Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma) or equivalent.
