
Senior Engineering Specialist - Air/Ground Communication Systems

- Act as a trusted technology advisor. Provide technical leadership and guidance as required, including safety and security guidance
- Develop technical plans and monitor progress against them
- Manage the technology change process, ensuring effective configuration management and change control
- Perform systems engineering and project tasks in accordance with safety and system management policies, frameworks, guidelines and procedures
- Apply internal frameworks to system level changes and projects
- Assist Projects to deliver against specified requirements
- Conduct tasks associated with technology change control and management in accordance with Frameworks to ensure the integrity of the system baseline
- Maintain an appropriate base level of knowledge of current and proposed Communications, Navigation, Surveillance and Air Traffic Management systems used in Airservices and supporting Infrastructure systems
- Assist other engineering and technology staff as directed by the Team Leader
- Actively participate in cross training to develop specialised skills and technologies
- Manage assigned tasks effectively to achieve the appropriate levels of safety, quality and efficiency within schedule and allocated budget
- Completed a tertiary qualification in Engineering and be eligible for Registration as a Professional Engineer in relevant area of engineering in accordance with relevant legislation e.g. Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ)
- Significant experience with the application of Systems Engineering processes to unique and complex systems across multiple industries;
- Experience with engaging with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders;
- Demonstrated values-based behaviours, and ability to support organisational capability and culture;
- Excellent oral and communications skills and the ability to work independently or in a team environment;
- Previous experience with the application of aviation Safety Management Systems (desirable);
- Sound understanding of the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations
- Highly Desirable: Experience in designing, maintaining and supporting air traffic management systems, particularly in the communications domains (VHF, UHF, HF).
