Guided by our Strategy 2030, we are seizing a once-in-decades opportunity to grow our community housing portfolio and deliver new, high-quality, and well-designed housing for individuals and families on very low to moderate incomes.As General Manager, New Housing Delivery, you will play a pivotal role in realising this vision by leading the Mission Australia Housing Queensland special purpose vehicle (SPV). This is a unique opportunity to combine strategic leadership, financial stewardship, and operational excellence with purpose, helping us build homes and communities that will change lives for generations to come.Your key responsibilities will be to:
  • Lead the strategy, business planning, and execution of the Mission Australia Housing Queensland SPV to achieve long-term sustainability and growth.
  • Oversee the delivery of housing construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
  • Drive positive tenancy and asset management outcomes through effective service agreements and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage senior and sub-debt loan obligations, refinancing, and hedging strategies to ensure sound financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with the National Regulatory System for Community Housing (NRSCH), state housing policies, and partner contract obligations.
  • Deliver strong financial outcomes in line with approved budgets and strategic objectives.
  • Provide effective leadership to the SPV team, fostering a values-based culture, innovation, and high performance.
  • Report to and support the Mission Australia Housing Boards, providing timely, accurate information and strategic recommendations.
Requirements for success
  • Tertiary qualification in law, property, commerce, finance, business, or a related discipline.
  • Significant senior leadership experience (10+ years) in commercial or project management, ideally with exposure to PPP-style projects, project finance, or community housing.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret and manage complex financial models, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Proven track record of delivering large, complex construction or property development projects within tight timeframes.
  • Expertise in contract negotiation, compliance management, and stakeholder engagement at senior levels.
  • Deep understanding of government decision-making processes, housing policy, and regulatory frameworks (including NRSCH).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams, drive change, and foster a values-based, collaborative culture.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills, with experience engaging boards, executives, and external partners.
