OverviewAbout the RoleGallagher Bassett (GB) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Risk – Disability to lead and oversee the risk function for our wholly owned subsidiary, My Plan Manager Group (MPMG) Reporting to the Chief General Counsel, this critical role will focus on identifying, assessing, and managing financial and non-financial risks across the MPMG business units to ensure the effective and compliant delivery of plan management services.The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in safeguarding clients, driving continuous improvement in risk management frameworks, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.This role involves leading a team of risk, compliance, and audit professionals, collaborating with senior leaders across GB, and working closely with Managers in MPMG to uphold GB’s high operational risk standards and compliance obligations.How you'll make an impactKey Accountabilities Include:
  • Leadership and Team Development:Lead, coach, and support a team of risk, compliance, and audit professionals to ensure their growth and successful delivery of the Disability division’s risk strategy.
  • Assurance and Audit Plans:Oversee the implementation of assurance and audit plans that meet MPMG ISO and NDIS registration requirements.
  • Risk Identification and Mitigation:Collaborate with GB’s Risk & Compliance team and relevant stakeholders to assess financial and non-financial risks, embedding effective controls and mitigation strategies across the plan management process, including reporting.
  • Regulatory Compliance:Partner with GB’s Risk &Compliance team to ensure adherence to relevant global and local requirements and to industry best practices.
  • Incident Management:Oversee operational and compliance incidents, including system errors, inefficiencies, and fraud risks. Conduct investigations, identify root causes, and implement remedial actions.
About youWhat are we looking for?The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in risk management, compliance, and/or audit practices, preferably within the disability or financial services sector. In addition to being a team player, you will also have:
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to foster a positive team culture and drive high performance.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a senior risk leadership role, ideally within financial services or disability-related industries.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements relevant to plan management services.
  • Experience engaging with regulators or external bodies, such as ASIC, NDIA, or similar.
  • Demonstrated success in embedding a quality improvement and risk-aware culture.
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong analytical, interpretation, and reporting skills, including excellent problem-solving abilities to address complex regulatory policies and implement solutions.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a commercial discipline such as commerce, finance, accounting, law, or equivalent.
