The model of care includes the provision of crisis and short to medium term counselling, group work, professional consultation, and professional and community education programs.To hear from one of our Counsellors, .About the roleECASA welcomes applications from appropriately qualified Social Workers or Psychologists to join our team. The Counsellor/Advocate roles require a strong commitment to trauma-informed collaborative practice and an empowerment and victim's rights-based approach to recovery. ECASA provides a supportive, connected, and positive team culture with a well embedded supervision and professional development program. There is an opportunity for clinicians to increase their knowledge and expertise in responding to sexual assault, with professional development opportunities in trauma and related modalities.The Innovative Health Services for Homeless Youth (IHSHY) position has two specific objectives:To provide an outreach counselling and advocacy service to young people (12-25 years) who are homeless (or at risk of homelessness) and have experienced sexual assault.To provide an education, training, consultation and resourcing service to the health and welfare systems that support the target group and engage in relevant community development and health promotion activities.The roles primarily involve outreach locations in the East, with some time at our Ringwood -East site. There is also an expectation of availability for after-hours on-call duties with a minimum of two shifts per month.About youTo be successful in this role you should have the following:
  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in Social Work or Psychology
  • Experience in sexual assault and/or family violence or mental health, with an understanding of trauma assessment and treatment.
  • An understanding of the dynamics and impact of sexual assault related to adults and young people/children.
  • Experience working therapeutically with children and young people would be viewed favourably.
  • A respectful, compassionate, innovative, and reflective approach with a passion for making a difference in the lives of those impacted by sexual assault.
