You will use your subject matter expertise to:
- Mentor, guide, and technically lead field engineers globally in your discipline
- Develop and maintain technical guidelines/guardrails/mechanisms that raise the bar.
- Review and technical inspect Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and lead discussions for the corrective actions related to site/equipment failures.
- Perform design and equipment submittal review for new Data Centers to ensure that new equipment meets FE requirements.
- Directly support operational issue escalations including some on-call event support.
- Interface with internal engineering partner teams such as the server hardware team, environmental health and safety team to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered.
- Be the steward of field feedback to our upstream design teams, and downstream feedback from the principal community back to FE.
- Work on concurrent programs across multiple geographical regions and support our engineering audit programs.
- Be the decision maker in complex technical discussions.
Each day you will interact with different teams responsible for all aspects of the data centers. You will prioritize your activities to support data center capacity availability and safety focusing on the actions that are most impactful. - Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Cumulative 15+ yrs. of experience with mission critical facilities including critical equipment/system design, implementation, and operational experience
- Possess leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Primary understanding of uninterruptible power supplies, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution, electrical control systems, automatic/static transfer switches, and short circuit coordination studies.
- Secondary understanding of chillers, cooling towers, direct and indirect evaporative cooling, variable speed drives, mechanical control systems, fan systems, acoustics, and building sequence of operations.
- Registered Professional Engineer or equivalent. Cumulative 15+ yrs. of experience with mission critical facilities
- Experience with mentoring and developing junior engineers in technical expertise through technical and interpersonal leadership.
- Experience with advising senior leaders and executives on complex business critical initiatives regarding technical recommendations and FE's scope prioritization.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations in global markets.
- Direct experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
- Ability to carry ambiguous design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment/mass production.
